Called the largest fire ever in the Catskills, the Grandview Palace Condominiums, formerly Charles & Lillian "Browns Hotel" went out in the Grand Fashion that it was accustomed to in its hey day. As a former owner from the, beginning, I can tell you it was filled with all the drama you'd expect in any Hollywood Drama, it was like a movie set, glitz and glamour grabbed you when you walked in the door with promises, dreams and visions of granduer, the certain coming of Casino Gambling just months away, Buffet Breakfasts every weekend in the Lobby, BBQ's by the pool with unlimited food and drink.........but all of this was just a facade, and when the show ended and the developer ran out of funds, the owners were left us with little more than the shirts on our back and a mountain of bills........when they passed away the condo was given an oil painting of the matriarchs Charles & Lillian Brown all decked out in his Tuxedo & her Furs, it was hung in our Lobby Library for all to see & most to wonder who they were..........I wonder if amongst the ashes that remain, you might recover this remembrance of days gone bye?
